Managed to pull a couple last minute permits to the Kings Range Conservation area on the coast of Northern California.

I was able to do a single night on the Lost Coast Trail back in January 2019. On that trip I would cross paths with a gentleman who is believed to have later been swept to sea during bad weather. (I was well off the trail at this point, I had been heading back to trailhead as the gentleman was starting his fated journey.)

In any case, Chase is able to join me. As the “first” backpacking trip of the season, I’m going a bit nuts with the packing and gram counting. I’ll hopefully keep updating my lighterpacks loadout for the trip below.

Still tbd:

  • Print Tide charts
  • Determine alternative trails if weather bad
  • Plan food (bought too much)
  • Clean/Pack Travel and Wearing Clothes
  • Find and charge battery pack
  • select and bring book
